Music flows in the soul of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, a group of seven brothers whose father is the trumpeter Kelan Phil Cohran, a member of The Sun Ra Arkestra, one of the freest and most avant-garde jazz institutions in the USA, and musical guide of artists such as of Earth, Wind & Fire. In addition to their training as instrumentalists, they all received from their father and mentor a deep respect for the spiritual roots of the rhythms they assimilated. In 1999, they began performing in the Chicago underground, and later at improvised concerts on the streets of Manhattan. The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble improved its sound and gained self-confidence in the Big Apple, but it was not until 2005, with the success of their second album Jupiter, that they achieved international recognition as the world's leading brass band and were called upon to tour and record with Prince, Gorillaz, De La Soul, Macy Gray, Erykah Badu and Mos Def, amongst many others. This blend of New Orleans brass band sound, funk, afrobeat, hip hop and ethnic rhythms has now been recorded in a dozen albums. Their biggest hit to date is undoubtedly the song 'War' from the film The Hunger Games. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will be visiting us with their intensely vivid staging. Now presents his new project Hypnotic Joints Vol.2.
