A Room of One’s Own is Virginia Woolf’s encounter with a 21st century audience.
This adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s text, a fascinating, ironic and moving speech, with live music, is a classic piece of theatre. The book, as famous as controversial, continues to be a myth of feminism and a treasure of universal literature.
A female writer gives a lecture to some female students in 1928. Her words, ironic and sharp, speak of a discovery: in order to devote herself to literature, a woman needs money and a room of her own. Women were only given the right to vote nine years before.
Una habitación propia was premiered at the Snack Bar of Teatro Pavón Kamikaze at the end of 2016. Since then, it has been programmed on multiple occasions at the Sala Margarita Xirgu ofl Teatro Español and at Teatro Galileo in Madrid, where every show is sold out, and has toured Spain. In 2021 all tickets were sold for the Sala Beckett of Barcelona.
