Nikki Hill is sweet seduction, sweet menace and fiery energy; she is tender and tough, extravagant, witty and dangerous. An original force in American music. Her voice finds its place layering soulful, sensual, bold vocal tones with powerful riffs, confidence and swagger. Nikki, considered the new queen of soul, is also a barroom rocker, a roots revivalist, who composes with frank self-reflection and danceable rhythms.
Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Nikki Hill enjoyed R&B, soul, pop and hip hop at home and gospel in the church choir. She gradually developed an ear for garage rock, rock ‘n’ roll, blues and roots music. LaVern Baker, Etta James, Ruth Brown, Tina Turner, Otis Redding, Solomon Burke and Little Richard have forged this fertile mix of styles, to which Nikki has added a distinctive voice, a groundbreaking character and an overwhelming energy on stage with which she has conquered audiences all over the world.
Nikki is not a studio singer. Her debut album Here's Nikki Hill (2013) was followed with the acclaimed Heavy Hearts Hard Fists (2015) and Feline Roots (2018). Her trump card, her medium, is live performances.
‘Imagine Tina Turner fronting AC/DC (...) Nikki Hill is a revelation...’  Rolling Stone Magazine
‘If Tina Turner and Little Richard had a daughter and raised her with the help of her uncles James Brown and Chuck Berry, she'd be like Nikki Hill.’  Minneapolis Star Tribune
