O Sister! is a group of swing that recreates the golden age of vocal jazz, the popular music of the 20’s and 30’s in North America. It was founded in 2008 as a tribute to the female groups of that time, such as The Boswell Sisters, pioneers of a style –three voices in close harmony– whose influence would later be recognised by famed artists like Ella Fitzgerald. The sextet from Seville evoked that period with very creative arrangements in their albums Crazy People (2009), Shout, Sister! (2012) and Spooky Sessions (2014). More recently, they started composing their own pieces, always along the lines of the Jazz Age which characterises them.
Their fifth album, Nobody cares, O Sister! immerses us in the new decade of the 20’s with an original swing sound, which far from self-indulgence and retro nostalgia, dares to explore other genres and musical environments, whilst maintaining their own identity: the unique resources of the vocal trio, jazz close to the roots of the style in New Orleans, and freedom to transgress modelled on that golden age.
