The solo flamenco concert guitar is one of the great historical elements of Spanish music. Herencia  is Rafael Riqueni’s response to the history and tradition of the flamenco guitar and to the legacy of the great masters of the past. “These are new compositions with reminiscences of great artists that I recall with deep admiration”, he says. A list which includes Paco de Lucía (‘Lágrimas’), Mario Maya (‘Farruca bachiana’), Pepe Habichuela (‘Herencia’), Enrique de Melchor (‘Minerico’), Tomatito (‘Nuevos sones’), Serranito (‘Café de Chinitas’), Enrique Morente (‘Triste luna’), Joaquín Amador (‘Pureza’) and Manolo Sanlúcar (‘Aires de Sevilla’).
The greatness, the mystery of his guitar playing and the unique creativity of his compositions have converted Rafael Riqueni, a Sevillian from the Triana neighbourhood, into one of the most respected artists of flamenco and one of the greatest musical geniuses in Spain. He has received the most prestigious awards of flamenco and in 2017 published Parque de María Luisa, considered a masterpiece by all specialised critics.
