This project stems from an artistic collaboration between Alice and Franco Battiato that began in 1980 with the single ‘Il vento caldo dell'estate’ and the album Capo Nord. This musical union continued with Gioielli rubati (1985) and with the song ‘Eri con me’, included in the album Samsara (2012), and ‘Veleni’, included in Weekend (2014).In 2016, the two artists had the opportunity to share the long and extraordinary Battiato and Alice tour.
The Alice canta Battiato Tour began in 2020 with Carlo Guaitoli, pianist, director and collaborator of Battiato for more than twenty years, and the tour’s album was presented at the end of 2022. Once again, Alice is the instrument of Franco Battiato’s music, by means of sixteen songs with which she feels fully identified. The tour returned in 2023 with some new pieces, new musicians and a cello in the ensemble.
Alice, also known as Alice Visconti, is an Italian singer-songwriter whose career began in 1971. She gained popularity in 1981 when she won the Sanremo Music Festival with the song ‘Per Elisa’, which was followed by other European hits such as ‘Una notte speciale’, ‘Messaggio’, ‘Chan-son Egocentrique’… and the albums Gioielli rubati, Park Hotel, Elisir and Il sole nella pioggia. In 1984, she represented Italy in the Eurovision Festival with the song ‘I treni di Tozeur’, which she sang with Franco Battiato. In the last few years, she has explored a wide range of musical genres, including classical, jazz, electronic and ambient music, and has collaborated with a large number of renown English speaking musicians.
