Most Christmas swing songs were composed in the 1930s and 1940s and continue to be part of the traditional and “obligatory” holiday repertoire:  ‘White Christmas’, ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’, ‘I’ll be home for Christmas’, ‘Winter wonderland’… which we automatically associate with singers such as Bing Crosby, Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra, who used to publish new swing versions of Christmas songs every year. But we also find them with a style closer to jazz in the legacies of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Clarence Williams, Diana Krall, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller, Tommy Dorsey, Billie Holiday, Lionel Hampton, Louis Prima and Bob Brookmeyer. Christmas Swing includes many of them.

For sixteen years, the Insostenible Big Band has been training Malaga’s most noteworthy jazz musicians and has converted the city in a benchmark of jazz. The Band’s quality and presence on stage, its originality, good humour and communication with the audience have been a decisive boost for its artistic work and training, the scope of which was enlarged with the creation of the Big Band Jazz School, a pioneering project in Andalusia sponsored by the Malaga Music Foundation. In the five years since its creation, the school has trained more than 200 children and adolescents in the world of jazz and swing.
