Ángeles Toledano, a flamenco singer in her own right, presents Sangre sucia, a show of fantasy and absolute enchantment; an exciting and intelligent, sensitive and powerful journey through her creations and through flamenco. This album is the result of the singer’s undeniable contemporaneity, and of the fusion that exists in the DNA of flamenco, in its essence and intimacy. It is also a tribute to the celebration of one’s own blood, the blood shed in the cycle of bodies that history has considered impure.
Following years of performing flamenco in so many venues, the moment has come to give shape to the singer’s own songs –soleás, bulerías, jaleos, alegrías and tonás– in a record which entails, more than a debut, the confirmation of an artist blessed by critics and the public alike.
The singer from Jaen brings her Sangre sucia on stage accompanied by bright young artists, who together have carried out an interesting and unusual adaptation of the studio recording for this live performance.
The impact of Ángeles Toledano (Villanueva de la Reina, Jaén, 1995) on flamenco has brought this genre up to the present, endorsed by her sensitivity, experience and recognition. She has won, amongst many other prizes, the First Young Artist Award at the National Antonio Mareina Flamenco Singing Competition (Seville, 2011), Sartén de Oro Award of the City of Écija (Seville, 2011) and the 2024 Award of the Festival of Jerez for best singing accompaniment.
