Charles Lloyd’s career is one of the few that can be termed irreproachable, and he himself is one of those few artists who do not need to be introduced. He began playing the saxophone with B.B. King’s group and the Bobby Blue Band, and then went on to play with Chico Hamilton, Gerald Wilson and Cannonball Adderley’s sextet. In 1966  he created a quartet which also included Keith Jarrett and Jack DeJohnette and in the eighties he played with Michel Petrucciani, just to name a few of his alliances.  With a career spanning more than fifty years, the Memphis musician’s albums contain everything: skill, sensitivity, creativity, passion, spiritualism, good taste, …Above all, Lloyd is an acclaimed specialist in going beyond technical perfection to highlight the subtle world of emotions that permeate his compositions and arrangements, all of them unequivocally splendid.
