Prima ballerina assoluta and General Director of the National Ballet of Cuba, Alicia Alonso (Havana, 1920-2019) is the longest living figure of the history of ballet and one of the most relevant personalities in the history of dance worldwide. She is the central figure of classical ballet in Latin America, and her choreographies of the major classical ballets are famous. Stars of the National Ballet of Cuba who are currently with other prestigious international companies will be the dancers at the Gala, as well as top ballet figures in Spain, Canada and France. They will recreate part of the classical ballet repertoire in which Alicia Alonso shone with her personal technique and style: the pas de deux of Carmen, Swan lakeDon Quixote, Coppélia, Giselle, The nutcracker, La fille mal gardée, Spartacus or The black swan.
