With ten world-renowned tango dancers and a seven-piece orchestra on stage, Forever Tango is a sensuous and sophisticated show that tells the story of the birth of the genre in 19th century Argentina. According to Luis Bravo, creator of the production, "tango is a feeling that is danced, a story told in three minutes. It is passionate, melancholic; it’s tender and violent; you dance with somebody, but it’s so internal that you dance by yourself, two intentions that go together… more than just a dance, tango is music, drama, culture. A way of life".
Since the premiere on Broadway in 1997, where the eight weeks initially programmed turned into five seasons, Forever Tango has been staged in many countries where it has been acclaimed by more than eight million spectators. It has won, amongst others, the award for Best Touring Musical by The San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, where it played an unprecedented 92 weeks at the city’s Theatre on the Square, as well as nominations for the Tony Award for Best Choreography and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Show.
