Berro is about the freedom to tell without fear or restrictions, letting the innocence of nature and the inescapable force of expression flow. Each dance movement is a cry of liberation, an inner voice that seeks to express itself and fly out of us.
Berro represents the emptiness of being lonely and isolated individuals in a society without memory which must search for a movement that reminds them of their past. In a journey that connects emotional states, it shows the importance of recovering the ancestral essence of tradition, land, roots, family and home through collective experience, feeling the transformation in the expression of the body.
Nova Galega de Danza was founded in 2003 with the vocation of innovating and merging the dance and music of Galician origin in live performances. Over the years it has premiered Credo (2022), Leira (2020), Son (2016), Dez (2013), Tradición (2008), Engado (2006) and Alento (2003), bringing together a selection of the traditional and contemporary culture of Galicia with personalities such as Mercedes Peón, Xurxo Fernández, Rosa Cedrón and Aida Tarrío (Tanxugueiras). It is the first dance company of Galicia that has won the Max Award for the Performing Arts.
