ROCÍO MOLINA WINS TALÍA 2023 AWARD FOR BEST FEMALE DANCE PERFORMER FOR VUELTA A UNO

"Vuelta a Uno is the reencounter with life, euphoria and pleasure; it is soil captivated by the rhythm of a beat that reminds us that we are matter and (altered) breathing, where the soul tries to escape, rise, and become one with the whole once again (…) In this third section we gallop steadily through all stages of pleasure. As we move closer to climax, all that is infinite within us throbs until it finds a way out. Iconoclastic choreographer and dancer, Rocío Molina has developed her own language based on the reinvented tradition of a flamenco that respects its essence and embraces the avant-gardes. Radically free, her work combines technical virtuosity, contemporary research and conceptual risk. Her artistic research has been recognised with awards such as the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the prestigious Silver Lion in Dance at the Venice Biennale, both of them in 2022, and the Spanish National Dance Prize in 2010.
