EWALD DANEL conductor
Danel studied Violin and Conducting at the Ostrava Conservatory (Czech Republic) and later at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava (Slovakia). On completing his studies, he became lead solo violinist for, amongst others, the Radio Eslovaca Symphonic Orchestra and the Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was also a soloist and debuted as a conductor. Between 1997 and 1998 he was guest soloist at the São Paulo Municipal Symphonic Orchestra (Brazil) and from 2001 was Artistic Director at the Slovakian Chamber Orchestra, where he introduced a wide repertoire leading to significant projects in and tours of Japan. Whilst there, he began a long period of co-operation with the Hiroshima Symphonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Chamber Harmony Orchestra, the Akita Chamber Orchestra the Nagoya Philharmonic, the Kanasawa Ensemble and the Osaka Symphonic Orchestra. Danel is an experienced chamber musician: he is a co-founder of the Slovakian Piano Trio, Head Musician of the Slovakian Quartet and, between 1992 and 1996, Artistic Director of the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Bratislava - Capella Istropolitana. Between 1999 and 2003 he was visiting professor at the Nagoya University Aichi of Fine Arts and Music, a post which he resumed in April 2007.
