“Vivir para cantarlo 2009 is an intimate review of well-known songs and many others that didn’t have the same success, but that I consider fundamental in explaining myself. Songs that have their own biography through births more painful than joyful. All which are included in Vivir para cantarlo 2009 have valid reasons for existing and some of them have left a footprint on my way of understanding this work. From pure spontaneity, like “El abuelo Víctor,” “La romería” or “Planta 14,” to those that are more elaborate, “Quiero abrazarte tanto” or “Maria Coraje,” written after ’71, much more reflective and worked on, songs that at times have found smooth roads, and others, insurmountable hills, “Canción para Pilar,” “Asturias,” to those more recent hits like “Sólo pienso en ti,” “Soy un corazón tendido al sol,” “Ay, amor,” “Luna,” “Para la ternura siempre hay tiempo”, ¿A dónde irán los besos?”, “El hijo del ferroviario”…I’ve never stopped writing and it’s the only work in which I see myself.” Víctor Manuel
Vivir para cantarlo 2009 is the musical story of the most important moments of the professional career and personal life of the songwriter and Asturian producer Víctor Manuel (Mieres del Camino, Asturias, 1947) in the past 40 years, compiled by the artist in the 2007 book published under the same name.
